Turn on your new device and put it close to your old one
- In contrast to Android phones, Apple iPhones have a feature called “Quickstart,” which lets users transfer all of their data by just putting the two phones next to each other.
- You’ll see a message telling you to set up your new device. But if you don’t see the prompt on your old device, you’ll have to turn off and on both of them.
- Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi or the cell network on your device.
- Face ID or Touch ID can be set up on your new phone.
- After that, you’ll be asked how you want to move your data.

- If you want to keep using your phone while your data is being moved, you can download it from iCloud. Your apps and data will download in the background so you can start using your new device right away.
- If you transfer directly from your prior device, you will not be able to use either device until the transfer has been completed on both of them.
- You’ll have to keep your devices next to each other and make sure they’re both plugged in until the data migration is done. Transfer times can be different depending on things like the condition of the network and how much data is being sent.
