The Apple hosted a big launch event on Tuesday announcing the launch of its products. The event started as the CEO Tim Cook announced the new HomePod mini. This is a more affordable version of HomePod smart speaker, which is powered by Apple’s A.I voice assistant Siri.
The HomePod is smaller in dimensions than the HomePod. Apple then announced iPhone 12 series, with a highlight feature of providing 5G for the first time in Apple phones.
HomePod mini
The HomePod mini will be powered by S5 processor which is designed by Apple. The company stated HomePod mini has computational audio technology to optimise the sound in your room. The company spent a lot of time touting the sound quality of this device, which will be interesting to test. When you place two HomePod mini devices in the same room, they’ll “intelligently become a stereo pair”, Apple said.
Siri is a big part of the HomePod experience, and with the HomePod mini, Apple is claiming that Siri is better than before. Using Siri HomePod mini can give you a quick summary of your day, if you ask it to give you an update. Siri can also recognise voices of other members of your household, according to Apple.
HomePod mini is priced at $99 in the US and will be available starting November 6. HomePod mini will be launching in India, Apple has announced. HomePod mini price in India is Rs. 9,900.
iPhone 12 series price
The iPhone 12 series will ship with OLED displays. The iPhone 12 series has Apple’s A14 Bionic SoC, which Apple says enables “console-quality gaming”. The iPhone 12 will feature MagSafe wireless charging technology that supports up to 15W wireless charging.
Apple has launched four iPhone 12 models — iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. iPhone 12 mini price is $699 (roughly Rs. 51,200) for the 64GB base variant, whereas the iPhone 12 64GB is priced at $799 (roughly Rs. 58,600). iPhone 12 price in India starts at Rs. 79,900. iPhone 12 mini price in India starts at Rs. 69,900.
iPhone 12 Pro ships with a 128GB base variant at a starting price of $999 (roughly Rs. 73,000) and the iPhone 12 Pro Max starts at $1,099 (roughly Rs. 80,600) with 128GB storage on the base variant. iPhone 12 Pro price in India starts at Rs. 1,19,000 and iPhone 12 Pro Max price in India starts at Rs. 1,29,000.
