Ram Setu: Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu is in trouble again. A Punjabi historian working in Sri Lanka and head of the department of Ramayan Research Committee, Ashok Kumar Kainth has claimed the main character in ‘Ram Setu’ was based on him. He alleged the filmmakers took his research work for the film from his website without permission. They did not even give me credit, he said. Kainth said he will take legal action against the movie. “If no one will listen to me then I will approach the court, he said.

Swamy’s charge
Earlier too Ram Setu was mired in controversy. In July this year, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy accused Akshay Kumar of depicting wrong facts in Ram Setu. He alleged that the facts being shown about Ram Setu in Akshay’s film are all fabricated. He was planning to file a case against the makers of the film and Akshay Kumar.
Swamy went to the extent of saying that if Akshay Kumar is a foreign national, he will seek his arrest and eviction from the country. Swamy sent a legal notice a month later to the actors Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, and others as also the makers of Ram Setu.

Ram Setu poster
Netizens took to social media to troll Akshay when the poster of Ram Setu was released. In the poster, Akshay is shown standing in a cave-like place with a flame torch in his hand. Jacqueline Fernandez is shown standing beside him but she is holding an electric torch. Both were ridiculed for not doing their homework well.
An archaeologist’s story
In Ram Setu, Akshay plays the role of an archaeologist, who wants to find out the truth about the Ram Setu, a mythological bridge between India and Sri Lanka.
Ram Setu was shot at various locations including Mumbai, Ayodhya and many different locations in Uttar Pradesh. Ram Setu’s muhurat shot was taken in Ayodhya.
