A major accident was averted during a temple festival in Karnataka on Tuesday. Here a part of a chariot of the temple broke and fell on the devotees. One wheel of the chariot was allegedly broken which led to the incident. A large number of people gathered in a procession on the occasion of Rathotsav or chariot festival at Chamarajanagar in the state when a part of the chariot of Sri Veerabhadreshwar temple overturned and fell on the devotees. Thankfully there were no casualties during this time. The incident is from Chanappanpura village of Chamarajanagar district.
A video of the incident is viral on social media in which it can be seen how a part of the chariot is falling on the devotees. According to media reports, the chariot lost its balance after a wheel broke and fell on a crowd of about 100 people. It is being told that people were celebrating the festival of Kartik month by taking out a procession with chariots. No casualties or injuries have been reported from the spot so far.
However, this is not the first such incident. In a similar procession in the month of April, a major accident took place in Tamil Nadu. In Thanjavur district of the state, a portion of the temple of the chariot collided with the high tension transmission line during the Rathotsav, in which 11 people, including children, were killed. At the same time, two people lost their lives in an accident during a bull racing in Shivamogga, Karnataka. People lost their lives in two separate incidents allegedly due to the collision of the bull.
