Punjab: Shaken by two back to back killings in the presence of Punjab police, chief minister Bhagwant Mann announced he will free the state of anti-social elements. Killings in police presence can not be tolerated, he said, and added that it was the government’s responsibility to ensure that people of all faiths lived peacefully in Punjab. Mann deputed DGP Gaurav Yadav to monitor Kotakpura murder.
Back to back killings
Dera follower Pradeep Singh was shot dead by some unidentified bike riders in Faridkot on Thursday. A gunman was also injured in this incident. Reports said Pradeep Singh was going to his shop when the assailants opened fire. Pradeep Singh died while his gunman was admitted to the medical hospital in injured condition. Goldie Brar, a gangster sitting in Canada, has claimed responsibility for the murder by writing a post on social media.

On November 4, Shiv Sena (Taksali) leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead by a garment shop owner, when he was protesting outside a temple in Amritsar.
Tough measures
Chairing a meeting of senior officials at his residence on Thursday, a perturbed Mann directed the police to take tough measures and arrest the killers at the earliest. He also warned against the rumour mongers and appealed to the people to maintain harmony in the state.
The meeting was called to review law and order in the state. The CM directed the police to solve the Kotakpura killing in Faridkot and asked for details of the incident. He told the senior police officials to put up pickets across the state and review the list of licensed weapon holders. This would help in curbing anti social activities, he said.

Mann also asked the DGP to organise advanced training for the police force to make them more proficient at handling criminals.
After the meeting the chief minister said the matter was very sensitive and police was looking at all angles. He was confident that the police would solve the case very soon and the killers would not be spared at any cost Mann said.
Cyber cell
Police was taking help from the cyber cell to ascertain how many mobile phones were being used during the crime. They were are also monitoring social media to reach the criminals and trying to ascertain Khalistani link to the murders. Reports said DGP Gaurav Yadav was himself monitoring the situation.
The Intelligence wing has become active after Khalistani gangster Goldie Brar claimed responsibility for the murder through a Facebook post.
