Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the world’s leading oil and gas companies on Monday. This annual event is being organized by NITI Aayog and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement on Friday that this is the fifth such program of the NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Around 45 CEOs of major oil and gas companies will participate in this roundtable.
India holds an important position in the global gas and oil sector. It is the world’s third largest crude oil importer and the fourth largest importer of LNG. Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will address the opening.
According to the statement, the meeting, organized through video conference, aims to provide a global platform to understand better activities, discuss reforms and provide information about strategies to accelerate investment in the Indian oil and gas value chain. India is the third largest energy consuming country in the world and to meet the growing demand, it is estimated that more than $ 300 billion will be invested in the oil and gas sector by 2030. In this context, the meeting is important.
