Gujarat Assembly Election 2022: Aam Aadmi Party’s Gujarat chief ministerial candidate Isudan Gadhvi will contest next month’s assembly elections from Khambhalia seat in his home district Devbhoomi Dwarka. The party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal announced about this decision on Sunday. The Chief Minister of Delhi said, “Isudan Gadhvi, who has raised his voice for farmers, unemployed youth, women, businessmen for years, will contest from Jam Khambhalia! Gujarat will get a new and good Chief Minister from the holy land of Lord Krishna.”

Responding to Kejriwal’s tweet, Gadhvi tweeted, “The faith reposed in me by you and the people of Gujarat, I assure that I will serve the people of Gujarat till my last breath. Jai Jai Garvi Gujarat!”
Gadhvi, a former TV journalist, was named as the party’s CM candidate on 4 November based on the results of a poll conducted by AAP. Party’s Gujarat unit president Gopal Italia and general secretary Majoj Sorathia were also in the race. Hailing from an agricultural family in Dwarka district, Gadhvi had secured nearly 73 per cent of the votes (in the election for the chief minister’s post), leaving behind Italia and Sorthiya.
Second phase of polling will be held on December 5
With this, AAP has so far announced the names of 175 candidates for the 182-member Gujarat Assembly. In the first phase of the two-phase elections in Gujarat, polling will be held in Khambhalia along with 88 other seats on December 1. The last date for filling the nomination form for the first phase is November 14 and the last date for withdrawal of the form is November 17. The second phase of polling will be held on December 5 and the counting of votes will take place on December 8.
