Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again attacked BJP and RSS over VD Savarkar’s apology.
He showed the letter of apology during a press conference in Maharashtra, claiming that Savarkar wanted to remain a servant of the British. At the same time, a police complaint has also been lodged regarding Rahul’s claims.
‘ I am very clear that they helped the British’
Talking to the media during Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said- “They wrote mercy petitions to the British and accepted pension and they did so out of fear. I am very clear that they helped the British. I have a document which contains Savarkar’s letter to the British. In which he has said that ‘Sir, I beg to remain your most obedient servant’.”
Rahul Gandhi further said that by writing an apology, Savarkar betrayed all those leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi, who were fighting against the British. The Congress leader said- “Savarkar signed this letter, while Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel were in jail for years… did not write any letter. I believe Savarkarji signed this letter out of fear.”
Rahul Gandhi said that there are only two ideologies in the country. One is the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi and the other is the ideology associated with Savarkar. During this, Rahul Gandhi also accused the present central government of promoting hatred.
Politics has heated up in Maharashtra regarding these claims of Rahul Gandhi. CM Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis have targeted Rahul Gandhi for this. On the other hand, the Uddhav Thackeray group, registering disagreement with Rahul’s statement, has demanded Bharat Ratna to be given to Savarkar. Rahul has already made such claims about Savarkar.
Police complaint has also been lodged regarding this statement of Rahul Gandhi
Along with this, a police complaint has also been lodged regarding this statement of Rahul Gandhi. Veer Savarkar’s grandson Ranjit Savarkar has filed this complaint. He said- “I have come here in Maharashtra to file a complaint against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for insulting Veer Savarkar in a public meeting.”
