Richa Chadha apologises for Galwan tweet
Richa Chadha took to her Twitter handle to post an apology post facing backlash on micro-blogging site Twitter over her ‘Galwan says hi’ tweet. The actress was replying to Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi’s statement that the army is “always ready” for any order from the government on taking back parts of Kashmir illegally occupied by Pakistan and “would give them a befitting reply”.
In her apology Richa said ‘it can never be my intention’ to ‘offend or hurt anyone,’ mentioning ‘Fauj’ has been a part of ‘my blood’ as her own nana ji and mama ji have been a part of it.
“Even though it can never be my intention in the least, if the 3 words which are being dragged into a controversy have offended or hurt anyone. I apologise and also say that it would sadden me if even unintentionally my words have triggered this feelings in my brothers in the Fauj of which my own Nanaji has been an illustrious part. As a Lt. Col, he took a bullet in the leg in the Indo-China war, in 1960s. My Mamaji was a paratooper. It’s in my blood.
A whole family is affected when their son is martyred or ever injured while serving the nation which is made up of people like us and I personally know how it feels. It is an emotive issue for me,” she added.
