iPhone: A person with direct knowledge of the situation told a source, that after employee unrest disrupted operations, iPhone manufacturing at Foxconn’s factory in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou could fall by at least 30%. The source, who asked to remain anonymous since the information was confidential, claimed that the estimate was an upward revision of an internal October forecast for a production impact of up to 30% at the largest iPhone plant in the world.

The company had set an internal deadline before Wednesday’s round of protests, but after this week’s round of worker unrest at the plant, the source noted, it was “impossible” for the company to restart full production by the end of the month.
What happened at the iPhone facility?
According to a source, more than 20,000 workers had left Foxconn, an Apple supplier, at its Zhengzhou facility in China. The majority of these workers were new hires who had not yet started working on the production line. The individual claimed that the departures would make it more difficult for the business to meet its prior goal of restarting full production by the end of November after employee unrest rocked operations at the biggest iPhone facility in the world.
Why did all of this happen?
When employing new hires, Foxconn made a “technical error” regarding wages, which the company has now apologized for. According to workers, this mistake contributed to protests that included physical confrontations with security guards.
Workers at the Zhengzhou facility report claims of unpaid wages and dissatisfaction over the rigorous COVID-19 limitations are what caused the few instances of open protest that started on Wednesday.
