Mercedes Benz EQG EV SUV: The car will be produced in Austria and is designed to be an off-roader similar to the G-Class. The electric G-Wagon will be the 9th electric vehicle (EV) that Mercedes-Benz has in its lineup when it is introduced in 2021 as a concept at the Munich Motor Show.
According to Emmerich Schiller, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz, the EQG is planned to serve as the technical spearhead for the newly established G (for Gelandewagen) sub-brand. This announcement was made by Emmerich Schiller.
Same exterior design as the existing G-Class vehicles
The future EQG, which has been given the codename W463, is built on a modified version of the steel ladder-frame chassis that is used by ICE vehicles. The existence of the prototype substantiates the hypothesis that the production version of the EQG will have the same exterior design as the existing G-Class vehicles. The electric SUV has been updated with a new bumper and grille that has been covered up, respectively.
The next Mercedes-Benz EQG, on the other hand, will not have a front baggage compartment like the previous Mercedes-Benz EQ models. The EQG is propelled by a brand-new electric drivetrain, which, mechanistically speaking, is comprised of four electric motors that are positioned on each wheel. The electric motors for the front axle are mounted lower within the axle, while the electric motors for the rear axle are integrated inboard within a rear axle designed in the manner of a Dion and built specifically for the EQG.

The production numbers for Mercedes-planned Benz’s electric G-Wagon have not been made public at this time. The manufacturer drops a clue that the vehicle’s performance will be comparable to that of the Mercedes-AMG G68 4Matic, which is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

Along with the standard on-road drive modes of Eco, Comfort, and Sport, the EQG EV will also offer three off-road modes that include Rock, Sand, and Trail. In off-road driving, the creeper mode gives the driver control over the speed of the vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz also offers a function known as G-Turn, which is activated by pressing a button that is mounted on the dashboard. This causes the electric motors on one side of the vehicle to turn the wheels in the forward direction, while the electric motors on the other side of the vehicle turn the wheels in the reverse direction. This enables the EQG to perform on-the-spot 360-degree tank turns. In addition, the shift paddles that are located on the steering wheel of the new EQG electric SUV provide the driver the ability to pick whether they want to turn left or right.
Under the rear seat of the Mercedes-Benz EQG electric SUV is a floor-mounted battery pack that stores the vehicle’s energy. It will make use of a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of approximately 100 kWh and will share the cell technology that it utilises with the EQXX idea.
