Shashi Tharoor: PC Chacko, the state president of the Kerala Nationalist Congress Party, stated at Kannur that if Congress leader Shashi Tharoor chose to join their party, they would gladly accept him. According to the Kerala party chairman, Shashi Tharoor is the only Congress leader capable of beating the BJP.
This comes amid a squabble inside the Kerala Congress after Tharoor began actively attending in events around the state in an attempt to become more involved in state politics. PC Chacko also questioned whether any of the Congress leaders in Kerala would be able to articulate Shashi Tharoor’s views on the construction of the Vizhinjam port.

Chackos’s question to Tharoor
“It is an example of Tharoor’s political maturity. Tharoor had earlier said that he agreed with all the demands of the protest committee except to stop the construction of Vizhinjam port. Can any of the Congress leaders in Kerala make such an opinion?” asked Chacko.

“Unfortunately, the only party in India who has not understood the capability of Tharoor is Congress,” Chacko
PC Chacko further stated that Shashi Tharoor will retain his seat as MP for Thiruvananthapuram even if the Congress rejected him. “But, Congress is the only party that doesn’t understand that. I don’t know why Congress is ignoring Tharoor,” Chacko added, wondering if it was because of jealousy.
In response to whether Tharoor will be accepted by the Kerala NCP, PC Chacko stated, “We are always ready to welcome Shashi Tharoor to our party. He is that one politician in India who every party wishes to have in their fold. Unfortunately, the only party in India who has not understood the capability of Tharoor is Congress.”
“Shashi Tharoor has been an MP for the last many years, and I have since then suggested to many leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, to bring Tharoor to the forefront. I was in Congress back then, but nobody cooperated with the idea,” Chacko continued.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Shashi Throor stated after meeting with PC Chacko, “If I go there, I need to be welcomed. I will not attend NCP. Such issues were not raised with PC Chacko.”
“I don’t fear anyone, and there’s no need for anyone to be afraid of me,” Tharoor told the party. He also stated that he is “not interested in forming any organisation within the state Congress.”
