Viral Video: Online payments and going cashless have become popular trends in recent years with the emergence of “Digital India,” as online payment companies take the lead in the nation’s digital payment revolution. People now have more convenience thanks to the growing use of online payments in practically every industry, which has also made it less difficult to carry cash in public places.
Everyone has started following the trend, from those operating small businesses to those operating larger ones, and as a result, it is not unusual to see QR code options for making payments at small street food stalls.
‘Dholwala’ takes digital payment to another level
Although most people use digital payments to pay their bills for transactions, we have recently come across a case where the option was introduced as a way to fulfil a wedding ritual. When paying the drummer who was performing at the wedding, a man used digital payment method, and the method has since then taken netizens by storm.
On social media, the video has received a lot of shares and is currently trending. The groom is greeted while the video plays, with a crowd of people dancing around him to the dhol’s beats. While all of this is going on, a guest, as is the norm, circles the groom’s head with his phone rather than cash before going to the drummer to give him the appropriate amount. Everyone was surprised to see that the drummer’s dhol also had a QR code on it.
Notably, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also found the video interesting and shared it on his Twitter account. He wrote, “Digital Shagun in marriage. Expansion of Digital India.” Since being shared, the video has amassed more than 358k views.
