Ranji Trophy 2022–23: India’s top domestic cricket competition, Ranji Trophy, will start on December 13 and last until February 16. Ranji Trophy will include 38 teams in its 88th edition, and the BCCI has somewhat changed the structure this time.
There will be five groups, with the first four groups each containing eight Elite teams, while the fifth Plate group only has six clubs. The top two teams from each Elite group will advance to the quarterfinals, while the bottom two teams in the field of 32 will be demoted to the Plate group and replaced by the top two teams in that group. All the teams will compete against one another in a home-and-away format.

Significance of Ranji Trophy
The Ranji Trophy was named in honour of KS Ranjitsinhji, the first cricketer from India to play in a Test match, even though he represented England. The tournament has had 87 edition since it was first played in 1934/35, with Mumbai being the most successful side and having won the iconic championship 41 times.
There are few names that stand out significantly above others, even though numerous players have captured the spotlight with their performances. Here are a few celebrities to keep an eye on: Mayank Agarwal (Captain of Karnataka), Kuldeep Sen (Captain of Madhya Pradesh), Ajinkya Rahane (Captain of Mumbai), Baba Indrajith (Captain of Tamil Nadu), Rinku Singh, and Hanuma Vi (Uttar Pradesh).
When and Where to watch Ranji Trophy 2022-23?
Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season begins on 13th of Decmeber. The matches will begin at 09:30 AM simultaneously in different stadiums. Star Sports Network will do the live coverage of the tournament. While online streaming will take place on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar.
