Avatar: The Way of Water: Today is Avatar Day! The entire globe has been anticipating what James Cameron has in store for them with bated breath. While there is a big buzz around Avatar 2, many people in Chennai were in for a letdown when the film did not debut in certain major theatres throughout the city. The managers of the theatres resorted to social media to report that they were unable to reach an agreement with Disney Studios.
Today, December 16, Avatar: The Way of Water hit theatres worldwide. The movie has also been released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX formats. However, cinema owners in Chennai turned to social media to disclose that Avatar 2 will not be released at their individual properties because they were unable to reach an agreement with Disney Studios, which is distributing the picture. Popular Chennai theatres such as Vetri Theatres, AGS Cinemas, and GK Cinemas could not show the film.

The film stars, among others, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldaana, and Kate Winslet in prominent roles.
