In Nagpur, Maharashtra, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has said that we have taken important decisions in the cabinet meeting today. We have approved the report of Anna Hazare Committee to bring Lokayukta in Maharashtra on the lines of Lokpal. The bill will be brought in this session. Where CM and cabinet will be brought under the ambit of Lokayukta. Along with this, the Prevention of Corruption Act will be made a part of this law and the Lokayukta will have a team of five people including retired judges.
At the same time, Deputy CM Fadnavis said that a cabinet meeting has just taken place, in which the Chief Minister has taken two important decisions. Where he said that the committee was about to give some suggestions. After the change of government in the interim period, it seems that no serious work has been done on it. But now after the new government came, we have strengthened that committee.
What is the matter?
Actually, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the report given by Anna Hazare’s committee has been accepted by the government. Accordingly, the bill to create a new Lokayukta Act has been approved by our cabinet under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister today.
Since, Anna Hazare was constantly demanding that there should be a Lokayukta Act in Maharashtra, like the Lokpal Bill was passed at the Centre. In this regard, a committee was formed under the chairmanship of Anna during the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition government.
Will make Maharashtra corruption free
During this, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has said that we will run the government with complete transparency. We will make Maharashtra corruption free, so we have decided to bring Lokayukta law in the state. During this, senior social worker Anna Hazare was saying that there should be a Maharashtra Lokayukta law, as soon as the new government came, the report given by the Anna Hazare Committee was accepted by the government. Where today in the cabinet meeting the CM approved the draft of the new Lokayukta Act.
