Weather Update: In the last several days, the cold has been somewhat reducedin all of the northern Indian states, including the nation’s capital Delhi. Today, December 29, Delhi is experiencing some relief from the cold. People have experienced some relief from the fog since the morning and the sun has begun to shine. The Meteorological Department predicts that after two days of relief, the cold will return with twice the intensity.
In the mountains tonight, there is a greater chance of both heavy snowfall and rain due to the active Western Disturbance, according to the Meteorological Department. The plains could experience a chilly wave and fog. Western Disturbance is expected to become active this evening, which could lead to the chance of significant snowfall in the mountains, according to IMD. The cold will have a severe effect on Delhi for the next three to four days, according to the Meteorological Department.
Delhi
IMD predicts that the national capital will remain partly cloudy today. Also, the effect of cold and fog will likely be less today. The severe impacts are likely to hop in the city a couple of days later. For today, the maximum temperature will be 21 degrees and minimum will be 9 degrees.
Mumbai
The city and its suburbs will continue to be sunny today. Also, no severe impact of cold or any other phenomenon is likely to hinder the city. For today, the maximum temperature will be 32 degrees while the minimum will be 22 degrees.
Chennai
Continuing its pleasant run, Chennai will have similar kind of weather pattern just like some previous days. IMD has also predicted that this relief will continue for a few more days, so natives can get a sigh of relief. For today, the maximum temperature will be 29 degrees and the minimum will be 23 degrees.
Kolkata
Though, Kolkata has seen a dip in usual temperature, today is likely to be better as the complete day is forecasted to be sunny. Also, the similar weather pattern will continue for several upcoming days. The maximum temperature for today will be 26 degrees and minimum will be 16 degrees.

The Meteorological Department has, however, warned that the likelihood of returning to cold weather starting on January 1 has been raised. On January 2 and 3, a cold wave is anticipated to dominate.
