West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, declined to offer any remark on the two consecutive episodes of stones being thrown at the Vande Bharat Express. Howrah and New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal are connected by the recently launched Vande Bharat Express.
The Vande Bharat Express was stoned twice in two days, days after its debut. The railway’s C-3 and C-6 coaches had their glass panes damaged on Tuesday when some anti-social individuals threw stones at it as it was approaching the NJP yard, however the first stone-throwing incident on the train was reported from Malda’s Kumarganj station on Monday.
The episode has set off a political brawl between the TMC and the BJP
No passengers were hurt during the stone-throwing, but the episodes in Bengal set off a political brawl between the TMC, which is in power, and the BJP, which is in opposition.
CM Mamata Banerjee responded when asked about the occurrences, “Don’t inquire about the Vande Bharat Express attack. I’m in a good mood as I travel to the Gangasagar Mela. On Gangasagar, you can ask anything.” When CM Banerjee was questioned over the stone-throwing on the Vande Bharat Express, she was ready to depart for the Gangasagar Mela.
