A phone call that claimed there was a bomb on a plane stimulated the search of a SpiceJet flight that was travelling from Delhi to Pune. At 6.30 p.m. today, the aircraft was slated to take off from Delhi’s IGI Airport.
When airline staff received the bomb threat call, they stopped boarding and called the bomb squad. The crew and passengers are all secure, and the plane is being searched.
Nothing unusual has yet been discovered by authorities. Delhi police and the CISF paramilitary force are also prepared.
Officials of the CISF and the Delhi Police are on alert
“Officials of the CISF and the Delhi Police are on alert. We were informed by authorities regarding a call they received where the caller said there was a bomb in the Pune-bound SpiceJet plane,” a senior police officer told news agency PTI.
“The plane is being checked but nothing suspicious has so far been found. However, we are following the security drill in accordance with our standard operating procedure,” the officer added.
Authorities are also trying to trace the caller and ascertain if it was a hoax call.
