Studies indicate rapidity of metabolizing caffeine depends upon genetic variation
Benefits of coffee on good health of people has been debated for decades, whether it is good or bad for health has been debated for decades.
However recent studies have revealed that rapidity of metabolizing caffeine is different in every individual and this depends on genetic variation.
Some people who drink coffee in the morning might get boost and feel spring in their feet, while for others it might not have any positive or no effect at all.
Dr.Edwina Raj, Head of Clinical Nutrition & Diabetics, Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore metabolize stated:
“Usually people have coffee first thing in the morning to improve their mood to do various functions. Many fitness enthusiasts also take coffee because it increases their exercise performance,”

People who have severe gastric disturbance, stomach ulcers or irritable bowel recommended not to consumer excess coffee
However, it is advised against overdosing on caffeine or making it the first thing you drink in the morning for people who have severe gastric disturbance, stomach ulcers, or irritable bowel syndrome because it may increase gastric output.
Stomach a powerful shied, protects stomach lining
According to Dr. Kim Barrett, a professor of physiology and membrane biology at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, the stomach can defend itself in a healthy person.
Given that the environment is already acidic, the stomach has a strong barrier that shields the stomach lining. We absorb harsh compounds throughout the day, so it would take a really poisonous material to get past the stomach’s defences, according to Dr. Barrett.
Study published in National Library finds no significant association between coffee consumption and ulcer formation
Even among those who drank three or more cups per day, a 2013 study published in the National Library of Medicine revealed no conclusive link between coffee intake and the development of stomach or intestine ulcers.
The study involved 8,000 residents of Japan.
Coffee can have an effect on gut and initiate bowel movement
However, according to Dr. Edwina Raj, coffee might affect the digestive system and cause bowel movements. If you are unable to metabolise caffeine, it might also raise blood pressure and heartburn symptoms. It can increase the likelihood of insomnia and sleep problems if consumed too soon to bedtime.
Edwinaraj states
“There’s no blanket rule that no one should drink coffee first thing in the morning. But for some, it may benefit, while for others it may not. In others, it can even initiate their gut movement as well,”
Coffee will always cause the creation of stomach acid in people with gastric problems. Coffee with milk can be a safer alternative to dilute it slightly, or you can have it with breakfast. In fact, Dr. Edwina Raj cautioned against waiting a lengthy time between your morning coffee and breakfast.
She further stated
“There shouldn’t be a long gap between your cup of joe and your first meal too. Caffeine stays in the body and has an impact for hours,”
Drinking coffee on an empty stomach; doesn’t do much harm
Although there are many opponents of coffee, it is important to remember that consuming coffee on an empty stomach doesn’t cause much harm. Since it also has antioxidant advantages, its effect might even be stronger. Dr. Raj emphasised that drinking coffee the method that works best for you is important, particularly if your genetic makeup enables you to metabolise caffeine while you’re hungry.
