Snowfall Update: India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the Himalayan area will continue to get further snowfall. Roads were closed and aviation operations were impacted on Friday due to snowfall and light rain in the hill states of northern India brought on by a western disturbance, while minimum temperatures rose in the lowlands. Read below to know more on the snowfall update.
Where will snowfall continue?
Snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will persist, according to IMD’s most recent meteorological report, because of an active western disturbance. People from Joshimath, which was damaged by ground subsidence, were living in temporary relief camps, and their plight was made worse by snowfall and rain in many regions of Uttarakhand.
Several well-known locations in the higher altitudes of the Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts, including Joshimath, which is at a height of about 6,000 feet, as well as Badrinath, the ski resort of Auli, Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib, Nanda Devi National Park, and the Valley of Flowers, experienced snowfall, according to officials.
Snowfall between Ramban and Banihal on both sides of the all-weather Srinagar-Jammu national highway caused traffic to stop, according to officials. This route connects Kashmir with the rest of the nation. Pahalgam and Gulmarg, two popular tourist destinations, as well as Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam, and the higher reaches of Kupwara, Ganderbal, and Srinagar, all saw snowfall.
Tourism Industry booms with new snowfall
From January 23 to 25, the meteorological office projected substantially greater intensity precipitation, with a chance of moderate snow in Kashmir’s plains, moderate to heavy snow over the middle and higher ranges, and rain in Jammu.
