Ford: Nowadays, it appears as though everyone wants a Ford Bronco. Since its resurgence, The Blue Oval’s off-roader has been popular, with some devoted and extremely patient customers having to wait a year or longer. Ford is now offering to reimburse buyers $2,500 to cancel their Bronco purchase in exchange for something else because supply is still having trouble keeping up with demand.
What can Ford Bronco customers do?
Customers’ first choice is to simply change their current order. Customers of Wildtrak are reportedly being given the option to upgrade to Badlands, Big Bend, or Outer Banks trims for $2,500, while non-Wildtrak customers are given the option to remove what Ford refers to as “constrained commodities”—the moulded-in-colour hard top, as well as the Lux and Sasquatch packages—for $2,500.
The second choice is to just get another Ford. Customers of Wildtrak can receive a $2,500 incentive to order a different Ford-branded car, while non-Wildtrak buyers are required to buy a vehicle from stock, which includes in-stock Broncos on dealer lots. Examples include the Bronco Sport, Edge, Escape, Explorer, Expedition, F-150 (excluding Raptor and Tremor), and Ranger. It does not apply to any other Ford models. Additionally, according to reports, Ford claims that most vehicles—all but the Mustang Mach-E—will be compatible with its in-stock offer for non-Wildtrak buyers.
What if customers don’t change their minds?
Buyers can still decide to take no action at all. Ford cautions them, though, that by doing so, they not only run the risk of further delaying the delivery of their Bronco but also of losing out on the $2,500 bonus.
And last, Ford says customers who are fed up with waiting can leave. Simply telling customers to cut ties and bow out would sound like an absurd idea, but considering that some have been waiting for more than 900 days after their original reservation date, it might be a more alluring offer than you’d imagine.
