Shoaib Akhtar: On Saturday, Shoaib Akhtar, a former fast bowler for Pakistan, tweeted to his admirers to let them know that his dream project has been called-off completely from his side. The renowned pacer said that a biopic based on his life, named “Rawalpindi Express,” was in the works, but he has now broken ties with the production company.

The 47-year-old explained that although he sincerely wanted to do it, the film crew’s contractual breaches and certain issues forced him to break the deal. Akhtar also stated that he would pursue legal action if the movie’s creators persisted with the project and used his name or incidents from his life narrative in any manner.

Akhtar, who is from Rawalpindi city in the province of Punjab in Pakistan, is also known as Rawalpindi Express. The cricket community and fans gave him this nickname since he was one of the game’s quickest bowlers throughout his career. The former cricketer still retains the record for the quickest delivery delivered in a match of international cricket.
At the 2003 Cricket World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, he bowled England opener Nick Knight at a speed of 161.3 Kmph (100.2 mph) in an ODI. After rattling the England batter with speeds of 153.3 kph, 158.4 kph, 158.5 kph, 157.4 kph, and 159.5 kph in his first five balls, it was the final ball of his first over.
Following his final match for Pakistan against New Zealand in the group stages of the 2011 ICC World Cup, Akhtar announced his retirement from international cricket. In 46 matches during the course of his Test career, he took 178 wickets, including 12 five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket hauls. With a top bowling performance of 6/16, he played in 163 ODIs and claimed 247 wickets.
