US President Joe Biden says United States will not provide F-16 fighter jets Ukraine sought against Russia
After procuring main battle tanks last week, Ukraine intended to seek for western fourth-generation fighter jets like the F-16, a defence minister’s advisor said on Friday. A representative for the Ukrainian air force estimated that training for such fighter jets would take its pilots around six months.
In its ongoing conflict with Russia, Ukraine has claimed that it needs the jets to seize control of its airspace.
F-16 Fighting Falcons are employed by several nations, including Belgium and Pakistan, and are regarded as among the most dependable fighter jets in the world.
They would represent a substantial improvement over the Soviet-era fighter jets that Ukraine presently employs, which were created before the nation’s independence from the USSR was proclaimed more than 30 years ago.
In the meantime, the Russian forces in eastern Ukraine have reported a number of incremental victories.
