Rajasthan Police is creating awareness among the youth about online fraud and fake social media profiles through popular Bollywood songs and dialogues and memes during Valentine’s week.
The state police force has been sharing humorous and creative messages on its official Facebook account and Twitter handle to attract the attention of the youth who are easy prey to thugs.
In this connection, a tweet was made on ‘Chocolate Day’ (February 9). The dialogue from the blockbuster film ‘3 Idiots’ was used in this tweet.
The tweet read with a poster of the film, ‘Jahanpanah tussi great ho, chocolate kubool karo‘
It was written below in the post, ‘Don’t fall into the trap of virtual chocolate. If you want to do all is well then adopt cyber safety.’
Through this, people have been given the message to avoid ‘digital chocolate’ that is online fraud and adopt cyber security to keep ‘all is well’.
A post was shared cautioning people against sharing their One Time Password (OTP) with anyone.
The post, shared on ‘Rose Day’ (February 7), shows two men talking on WhatsApp, one of whom recounts how he lost all his savings due to an online fraud.
The picture reads, ‘Roz roz tum jo sanam aisa karoge, paise lut jayenge to aah bharoge’ – a line from a song from the 1996 blockbuster Bollywood film ‘Saajan Chale Sasural’.
Police has come up with a creative message for girls to warn them against fake profiles on social media causing harm.
In one such post it was written, ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal, Kabhi Bhi Aa Sakta Hai Fake Proposal’.
Additional Director General (Technical Services) Sunil Dutt said that if there is awareness among the people, the conspiracies of cyber criminals can be foiled.
He said that tackling cyber crime during Valentine’s Week is an effort in that direction.
Dutt said, this is a long term campaign of Rajasthan Police to make people aware about cyber crimes. We had decided to create awareness among the youth about cyber crime during Valentine’s Week.
According to officials, the social media team of Rajasthan Police has been quite active for quite some time and such creative campaigns have been carried out from time to time in the last year and a half.
He said that songs, poems, punchlines and dialogues from popular Hindi films are being used in the campaigns.
The officer said that the interesting messages are easily understood by the common man. Earlier such campaigns were launched on occasions like Holi and New Year’s Eve and proved to be very popular.
