Comical turnout of events at ENG vs NZ
Despite facing a new pink ball under lights during the day-night match, England stuck to their aggressive ‘Bazball’ approach, accumulating runs quickly and losing Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley in the process. Stuart Broad was sent out to the crease with a score of 98/2. McCullum’s philosophy advocates batters to show intent no matter what, and Broad followed suit by attempting a wild pull shot on his first delivery from debutant Kuggeleijn.
The ball hit Broad’s body, and Scott chose the short ball again, prompting Broad to heave at it one more time. He ended up with a thick top edge, sending the ball high into the night sky, where four fielders converged, including bowler Scott and wicket-keeper Tom Blundell. As the ball descended, Scott urged Blundell to go for the catch, but the keeper suffered a brain freeze and let the opportunity slip, leaving the English dressing room in fits of laughter.

Blundell was left embarrassed and covered his face with his hand, capping off what the commentators called an ‘absolute classic’ moment.
