Jasprit Bumrah: Star pacer’s hopes of returning to the Indian Premier League have been dashed as he continues to struggle with his back injury, and sources suggest that he may be out of action for up to six months. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet confirmed whether the talented bowler will require surgery to fully recover from the injury that also kept him out of last year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah out from WTC?
A BCCI source said, “Bumrah has been ruled out of the IPL as he will take another six months to come back. Even then, he might or might not make a comeback. The 50-over World Cup is the target, but that is also not guaranteed.”
As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the upcoming matches, the news about Bumrah missing out on some key tournaments has made fans disappointed. If India qualifies, the World Test Championship final at The Oval on June 7 will be without Bumrah’s impressive bowling skills. Originally selected for India’s T20 World Cup squad, the fast bowler’s participation now remains uncertain. While the IPL begins on March 31, Bumrah’s absence will be felt by his team, Mumbai Indians, who have relied on his talent for several seasons.
Fans will also have to wait until the ODI World Cup in October-November in India to see Bumrah in action again. Despite playing in only five Tests, ODIs and T20Is in 2022, as well as IPL games for Mumbai Indians, Bumrah has already become a beloved figure among cricket enthusiasts. With his unconventional slinging action, Jasprit Bumrah has been putting an immense amount of pressure on his back during the loading phase.
Bumrah to change his action?
In fact, the legendary West Indies pace bowler Michael Holding had previously noted that Bumrah’s unorthodox technique made him a prime candidate for back injuries. This prediction came true last year when Bumrah had to be ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a back injury. Despite the setback, the fast bowler was quickly included in the T20I squad for the series against Australia, just before the T20 World Cup. Unfortunately, he hasn’t played any cricket since then, as his back injury continues to be a cause for concern.
