According to media reports, an Indian man was shot dead by Australian police on Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed a cleaner at a Sydney train station and made threats against police. According to news agency PTI, he had a bridging visa and was residing in Australia.
According to a reports, the Indian Consulate in Sydney stated that the guy killed by the police was Mohamed Rahmathullah Syed Ahmed, 32, of Tamil Nadu. “The incident is quite unfortunate and upsetting. We have formally brought up the issue with the state police authorities, the New South Wales Office, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Consulate added.
Ahmed is reported to have attacked the cleaner (28) at Sydney’s Auburn station before making it to the Auburn police station, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
Two police officers on their way out of the police station were confronted by Ahmed, who then tried to attack them, the report said.
Two of the three shots that a police officer fired hit Ahmed in the chest. It said that a probationary constable hit him with her taser.

Ahmed was given first aid on the spot and then rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later declared dead, according to the report.
According to the study, Ahmed had five prior contacts with the police, all of which were non-criminal and involved the COVID-19.
Officers simply had seconds to respond and were left with no choice but to shoot Ahmed, New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith said at a media briefing.
“I fully support these officers. It’s traumatic. It’s a significant incident at one of our police stations,” he said.
“There just isn’t an impending time. It is immediate. He launches through the glass doors at the officers; they had very little time to react,” he said.
According to the report, Smith promised to involve the counterterrorism team in the probe.
The cleaner, who had been admitted to a nearby hospital and was speaking with the police in the meanwhile, is now said to be in a stable condition.
Before allegedly trying to “slash” him after he went to the ground, the attacker allegedly punctured his left forearm, according to Smith. According to the article, which cited the police, the two guys were strangers to one another.
