Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, the chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), stated on Friday that passing the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) would be sufficient in place of a PhD for appointing assistant professors in colleges and universities.
The UGC Chairman officially launched the newly built UGC-HRDC building on the Osmania University (OU) campus on Friday, according to telangana today. He said that a one-nation, one-data site was being created and that it would contain all UGC rules and other information.
UGC shared the update via the official Twitter handle, stating, “PhD not mandatory for Assistant Professors’ posts in universities: UGC Chairman.”
The new building is a great addition to the OU’s current infrastructure, according to the chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Prof. R Limbadri, and it will greatly benefit the teaching fraternity at institutions of higher learning all throughout the nation.
Vice Chancellor Prof. D Ravinder described the university’s aims and progress while stating that 50% of the administrative positions were reserved for female faculty members.
