Stock Market Today: On weekly F&O expiry, domestic markets can continue to be turbulent. In the early morning trade, the Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange were trading 52 points, or 0.31%, higher at 17,026.00. With China’s Shanghai composite index down 0.28%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 down 1.12%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng down 1.65%, and South Korea’s KOSPI down 0.04%, Asian markets were trading down.
Updates on US markets
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.87%, the S&P 500 fell 0.70, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq climbed 0.05% as the US market closed the overnight session mostly in the red. The NSE Nifty 50 dropped 71.15 points, or 0.42%, to 16,972.15 on Wednesday, and the BSE Sensex sank 344.29 points, or 0.59%, to 57,555.90. In terms of sectoral indexes, the Bank Nifty dropped 359.90 points (or 0.91%) to 39,051.50, while the Nifty IT, Nifty Auto, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty FMCG all saw declines.

Global stocks markets
The US stock market continued to trade poorly on Wednesday as investors grew more concerned about a financial crisis in the country as the share price of Credit Suisse fell by over 24%. In early Thursday am trades, the dollar index recovered to 104 levels and maintained above the psychological levels. The price of gold continued to grow despite the strengthening US dollar, and it nearly reached a lifetime high on the Multi Commodities Exchange of 58,847 per 10 gm (MCX). SGX Nifty today opened lower but quickly gained upward momentum and rose to an intraday high of 17,144 levels, showing hints of some relief rally on Dalal Street.
