A period of controversies has started after former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti performed Jalabhishek on the Shivling. During her two-day visit to Poonch district, she offered prayers at a Navagraha temple on Wednesday morning. After which the politics of Jammu and Kashmir got heated. Asad Qasmi of Deoband did not like the Muslim leader’s visit to the temple. He called it against Islam. He said that going to the temple of Mehbooba Mufti and offering water on Shivling is against the belief of Islam. What Mehbooba has done is not right.
BJP spokesperson taunted
On the other hand, BJP also took a jibe at this new attitude of Mehbooba, calling it a political gimmick. Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Ranbir Singh Pathania said, “In 2008, Mehbooba Mufti and her party opposed the allotment of land to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. Her party did not allow the temporary transfer of land to the Shrine Board for construction of huts for the pilgrims.”
The BJP spokesperson further said, “His visit to the temple is only a political gimmick, which will not yield any resultsIf political gimmicks could bring change, today Jammu and Kashmir would have been a garden of prosperity.” PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti also offered flowers to the statue of Yashpal Sharma built in the temple premises.
Mehbooba Mufti said these things
Seeing the matter progressing, Mehbooba Mufti broke her silence. She said that this temple was built by Yashpal Sharma and his son wanted me to go inside the temple. After that someone gave me a vessel full of water, then I could not refuse so I worshipped.
