Mafia don Atiq Ahmed is on his way to Prayagraj. Atiq Ahmed is being brought from Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat to Prayagraj by road. At the same time, news has been received that before sitting in the van, Atiq Ahmed got angry at the constable after some time. It is being told that while leaving from Sabarmati, Atiq Ahmed got angry at the constable present in the van. “Mujhe inka programme maloom hai…Hatya karna chahte hain (I know their programme…They want to murder me)” says Atiq to reporters.
“Court ke kandhe pe rakh ke maarna chahte hain (They want to kill me under the pretext of court appearance),” he said.
A team of Uttar Pradesh Police left for Prayagraj on Sunday evening taking mafia and leader Atiq Ahmed from Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Atiq is lodged in this jail since June 2019. Atiq Ahmed will be produced before the court, which is scheduled to pass orders on March 28 in a kidnapping case in which he is an accused.
The Uttar Pradesh Police team reached Sabarmati Jail in the morning and after completing the necessary formalities, left with Ahmed in a police van at around 6 pm. During this, elaborate security arrangements were made.
Former Samajwadi Party MP Ahmed is lodged in Sabarmati Jail since June 2019. As per the order of the Supreme Court, Atiq Ahmed was shifted from his home state (Uttar Pradesh) to Sabarmati Jail.
Prayagraj Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma said that a team of Prayagraj Police has been sent to bring Atiq Ahmed, who has to be produced in the court on a given date. It is being told that there are 45 policemen in this team and out of this the phones of 40 policemen have been collected. In this only 5 officers have been given phones.
Named in more than 100 criminal cases
Ahmed is the prime accused in the 2005 murder case of then BSP MLA Raju Pal. A case was recently registered against him in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal. Umesh Pal was the main witness in the murder of Raju Pal. He was shot dead on February 24 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
