India has dispatched two consignments of Covishield Covid-19 vaccines to the Barbados and Dominica. It is dispatched under the Vaccine Maitri initiative.
Notably, the consignments of vaccines were manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII).
In letter addressed to PM Narendra Modi on Thursday, Mottley said: “I trust that you are well and safe. On behalf of my Government and people, I wish to express gratitude to you, your Government and the people of the Republic of India for its most generous donation of the Covishield vaccines (under the auspices of Oxford Astrazeneca).”
Meanwhile India vaccinated the third highest number of people against Covid-19 in the world with over 58 lakh frontline and health workers has received first doses of the vaccine till Sunday evening, the health ministry said.
