Nokia: An experiment to provide 4G internet on the moon is currently underway. It will be completed by the legendary phone manufacturer Nokia. To provide a 4G network on the moon, the tech company is planning on a moon mission. By the end of 2023, the smartphone company can start this initiative.
How will Nokia do it?
The network, which will be built on an antenna-equipped base station that will be positioned aboard the Nova-C lunar lander, will be launched by the tech corporation on a SpaceX rocket over the coming months. A solar-powered rover will also be present in addition to this. According to sources, the lander and rover will establish an LTE connection. On NASA’s planned Artemis 1 mission, which will take human astronauts to the Moon for the first time since 1972, the most recent 4G network will be deployed.
Intentions behind the move
Nokia has already disclosed intentions to introduce the Lunar network at MWC 2023. According to the business, it would assist in providing important communications capabilities for many various data transmission applications, including essential command and control operations, remote control of lunar rovers, real-time navigation, and streaming of high-definition video.
If everything goes as planned, Nokia might start the network later this year. The corporation may also be able to discover ice on the moon with the help of this expedition. Yet, it has been made known in certain claims that the majority of the Moon’s surface is dry. There is still some ice on the moon, according to the most recent internal mission.
