The Congress leader arrived at the Surat Sessions Court at 3 p.m. today to file an appeal against his defamation case conviction from 2019. He was accompanied by Bhupesh Baghel, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Priyanka Gandhi, general secretary of the Congress. Bharatiya Janata Party fired salvos at the Congress party
Party leaders who accompanied Rahul Gandhi claimed they were “trying to pressurise” the court as the Bharatiya Janata Party fired salvos at the Congress party. Kiren Rijiju, the Union’s Minister of Law, called it a “drama,” adding, “They (Congress) are staging a show to put the judiciary in danger. I detest it. The story primarily revolves around applying pressure if a court has found someone guilty. The Congress party values a family more than a nation.”

Anurag Thakur criticized the Congress
Anurag Thakur, a minister for the Union, also criticised the Congress. “India will not put up with being called backward. How many Congress members were with PV Narasimha Rao, P Chidambaram, and DK Shivakumar when they were arrested earlier? Is a single family larger than the nation? “Thakur enquired. Sambit Patra, the national spokesperson for the BJP, further said that Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders would cause “mayhem” in order to challenge the lower court’s decision convicting the former Waynand MP in the 2019 criminal defamation case for his remark about the “Modi surname.”
