Novak Djokovic of Serbia, the world’s number one veteran tennis player, narrowly escaped suffering defeat at the hands of Taylor Fritz of America in the third round of the Australian Open. After winning the first two sets, Djokovic was in trouble due to a hamstring injury.
Fritz took advantage of this and won the next two sets. After this, it seemed that Djokovic would retire and his dream of winning the record 9th Australian Open would remain unfinished this time. But he showed his indomitable courage and won the fifth set and won the third round.
In the middle of the match, this number one player of the world had to take a medical time out twice and seek the help of a doctor. Fritz had plenty of chances to win the match and at one time it seemed that he would easily win the match, but Djokovic performed brilliantly in the marathon match which lasted five sets, 7-6, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-2.
