The Uttarakhand State Tax Department has collected a tax of Rs 2648.1 crore from the year 2001-02 to 2022-23 on the sale of liquor. Which is 22 times more than Rs 15.90 crore recovered in the year 2001-02. This disclosure has come from the information provided by the State Tax Headquarters under Right to Information.
Kashipur resident information rights activist Nadeemuddin Advocate had sought information from the tax commissioner’s office about the amount of tax collected on liquor in the state.
