Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has been issued a summon to appear at the Enforcement Directorate’s office on March 15, said several media reports.
The case has been filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, PTI reported. No more details about the case were available immediately, it added.
She was detained by government in 2019 and was released in October last year after being detained for 14 months. She was one of the leaders to be held captive by the government after the special status to Jammu and Kashmir was scrapped and it was divided into two Union territories.
Notably, Mehbooba Mufti, who represents Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party has outspokenly opposed Centre’s move to scrap the State into two union territories and remove its special status.
After she was released in October last year, she joined hands with rival National Conference’s Farooq Abdullah and others to form the People’s Aliance for Gupkar Declaration.
