Kapil Sangwan: The Delhi Police conducted raids at numerous places in the capital city and the adjoining state of Haryana linked to the UK-based mobster Kapil Sangwan as part of a fresh campaign against wanted criminals. Sources claim that during the raids, authorities found cash and weapons. The raids take place as an investigation into the murder of BJP district kisan morcha president Surender Matiala continues. On April 14, he was fatally shot inside his Dwarka office in Delhi. Police are looking into whether the Matiala hit was carried out by the Kapil Sangwan gang.
Unspecified amounts of drugs were also seized during the raids
Police teams searched up to 23 locations that were connected to Sangwan and his cronies, including hideouts in Delhi and the Haryana towns of Sonipat and Jhajjar. A site in the capital saw the recovery of Rs 25 lakh in cash, and searches in Sonipat and Jhajjar turned up additional firearms. According to sources, unspecified amounts of drugs were also seized during the raids. The renowned mobster Kapil Sangwan, according to the reports, emigrated to the UK in 2020 using a false passport. He is sought after in numerous extortion instances and gang killings. He is the subject of a red-corner notice from Interpol.
Delhi Police earlier detained four people including two minors
The Najafgarh Kisan Morcha was presided over by Surender Matiala. Under the Arms Act and the murder-related sections of the IPC, a FIR was filed. In relation to the murder, Delhi Police earlier detained four people including two minors. DCP (Dwarka) M Harsh Vardhan commented on the situation, saying that it ‘appears to have been a desperate move performed by absconding criminal Kapil Sangwan to assert his presence in the area and reinvigorate his diminishing group as most of his friends are in jail under the MCOCA.’
