Sharad Pawar: After top party leaders rejected his resignation amid emotional protests from party cadre in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar today announced he would stay on as the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The 82-year-old had informed his coworkers that he wanted more time to consider whether to remain the leader of the party he founded in 1999.

“After giving everything another thought, I declare that I will remain the party’s president. In a statement made this evening, Sharad Pawar said, “I rescind my prior decision. Sharad Pawar, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and a seasoned politician from Maharashtra, had intended to step down from his position two days prior, but his plan was rejected by an 18-member committee he appointed on Friday. The 18-person committee was constituted by Sharad Pawar to choose the new party national leader.

NCP Leaders were not happy with Sharad’s Decision
NCP leaders vehemently disagreed with Sharad Pawar’s resignation announcement and requested him to retract it. Following his announcement of the decision, Sharad Pawar addressed his party members on Thursday that “Many colleagues from outside Maharashtra have come to this place.” They want to speak with me tomorrow. We’ll meet tomorrow night, and after a few days, we’ll reach a decision while strictly protecting the privacy of your thoughts and the feelings of your employees.
