Honda Activa: The most well-known scooter in India, the Honda Activa, has finally undergone a minor name change. Honda has chosen to delete the ‘6G’ suffix from the name and has simply renamed the current model Honda Activa. Honda announced the adjustment on its website, where the company has also eliminated any references to the “6G” suffix. Even pictures of the Activa with the ‘6G’ marking have been changed.
Honda Activa’s history
In 2001, the Honda Activa made its debut on the Indian market. Its 102cc engine propelled this first-generation vehicle. With the launch of the “2G” model in 2009, the business updated the scooter and gave it a 109cc engine. The “3G” was initially introduced in 2015 and featured Honda’s Eco Technology (HET) and tubeless tyres.
The reason behind the name change
It is a positive shift, even though Honda’s motivation for dropping the suffix is yet unknown. However, one of the causes for its updated moniker may be Honda’s preparations for the launch of its future electric scooter. This move hints that the new electric scooter from Honda may also go by the name Activa when it is unveiled in 2024.
