SRH vs LSG IPL 2023: During the clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday, there was an interruption caused by the spectators. It happened when an unknown object was thrown at the dugout of the Lucknow Super Giants in response to a controversial decision made by the third umpire.
What had actually happened during SRH vs LSG IPL 2023 match?
The incident took place in the 19th over of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting innings, with Heinrich Klaasen facing Avesh Khan. Avesh Khan delivered a full toss that was deemed to be above waist height. The on-field umpire initially called a no-ball, but the decision was challenged by Krunal Pandya, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, and Avesh Khan. The matter was then referred to the third umpire, who reviewed several replays before ultimately overturning the call. Surprisingly, despite the ball tracking indicating otherwise, the third umpire deemed it to be a fair delivery.
Expressing their dissatisfaction with the decision, a person from the crowd hurled an object towards the Lucknow Super Giants’ dugout. This resulted in a temporary pause in the game as the umpires intervened to assess the situation. LSG coach Andy Flower, mentor Gautam Gambhir, and Klaasen were observed engaged in animated discussions with the umpires. In addition, fans began chanting “Kohli, Kohli” near the LSG dugout, playfully taunting Gautam Gambhir, who had a confrontation with the Royal Challengers Bangalore player during a previous match in the tournament.
After a brief interruption, the game resumed, and eventually, the home team managed to finish their innings with a total of 182 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The Sunrisers Hyderabad captain, Aiden Markram, won the toss and elected to bat first at the home ground.
