Asian markets were mixed, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng down 0.33% and China’s Shanghai Composite down 0.33%, while South Korea’s KOSPI rose 0.47% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 added 0.73%. The US market ended the overnight session in the red, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) down 1.01%, the S&P 500 down 0.64% and the tech-focused Nasdaq down 0.18%.

Stock Market Today: Oil prices and dollar
Oil prices fell for a second day on Wednesday after a surprise rise in U.S. crude inventories fueled worries about demand amid weaker-than-expected economic data from the U.S. and China, the world’s two biggest oil consumers. The dollar was steady on Wednesday, supported by a bid for safety as the United States raced toward its debt ceiling and strengthened after solid economic data prompted traders to cut bets on an immediate interest rate hike.
Stock Market Today: From yesterday
On Tuesday, the NSE Nifty 50 was down 112.35 points, or 0.61%, at 18,286.5, and the BSE Sensex was down 413.24 points, or 0.66%, at 61,932.47. In sectoral indices, Bank Nifty fell 168.40 points or 0.38% to 43,903.70, Nifty Auto 130.15 points or 0.93% to 13,877.70 and Nifty PSU Bank gained 28.90 points or 0, 72% to 74.
