India has set a target of 318 runs in 50 overs to win against England in the first ODI against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Lokesh Rahul’s unbeaten 62 and Krunal Pandya’s unbeaten 58 runs, helped India score 317 runs for the loss of five wickets in 50 overs.
Earlier England won the toss and invited India to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan gave India a good start of 64 runs for the first wicket.
Rohit Sharma, however, returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 runs. After this, there was a partnership of more than 100 runs between Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli. Yet again Virat failed to convert his fifty-plus score into a century he departed after scoring 56 runs.
When Krunal came to bat at Number 7 for the Indian team, then the team was in the spot of bother as they were at 205 for the loss of 5 wickets. At one end KL Rahul was struggling with his poor form but the way Krunal came in and started banging fours and sixes, also gave confidence to KL Rahul. Rahul also went on scoring 62 runs and finished the game along with Krunal Pandya. Meanwhile, Krunal also became the fastest batsman to complete a half-century on his debut which came just in 26 balls.
