Rishikesh resort murder: The victim’s father has requested that the special public prosecutor, Jitendra Rawat, be replaced in the case of the alleged murder of a 19-year-old receptionist on September 19 of last year due to what is considered as his “laxity in advocacy.”
Additionally, the father claimed that SPO had posted offensive films about the issue on YouTube. He threatened to hold an protest at the DM’s office if the SPO is not amended by June 6. In his complaint, the father of an adolescent asserted that statements made by witnesses in prior sessions were different from those that they had previously recorded before the magistrate in accordance with section 164 of the CrPC. He asked that all witnesses be called back to testify in front of the court again.
Meanwy, SPO Rawat responded that “some local journalists were misleading” the girl’s father. He said, “Since March 28, we have presented 11 witnesses before the court. Not a single witness has turned hostile, and we are presenting all the evidence before the court to substantiate our case.”
Regarding the posting of films on YouTube, Rawat clarified that his son is a vlogger and that his children made a video in March that was shared on social media and pleaded for justice for the girl.
SPO Rawat added that he has written a report on the situation, which he will present to the Kotdwar SDM on Saturday.
We are looking into the situation and will shortly give the district magistrate a report, SDM Pramod Kumar told TOI.
