Bihar and Telangana, two states have emerged as leaders in reporting diseases. The efforts undertaken by both states to strengthen disease surveillance and reporting systems have contributed to their commendable performance in this regard.
State surveillance officer Dr Ranjeet Kumar said “Bihar shares the position with Telangana and both the states have scored 96.4 out of 100. The motive is to upload the data of 33 diseases, mainly infectious, so that the department could take proper action for curbing the spread,” he said.
Bihar has also implemented effective disease surveillance programs, such as the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), which aims to detect and respond to disease outbreaks promptly. Through a well-connected network of surveillance units, various diseases, both communicable and non-communicable, are closely monitored.
Similarly, Telangana has made remarkable progress in disease reporting. The state government has prioritized healthcare infrastructure development, ensuring the availability of adequate healthcare facilities and skilled medical professionals. This has resulted in enhanced disease surveillance and reporting capabilities.
After Bihar and Telangana, Tripura with 93.1 percent secures third position while Gujarat and puducherry comes after this with 92.6 and 91.9 percentage respectively.
