The Election Commission has issued a notice to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her alleged remarks against the Central Armed Police Force deployed on election duty in the state.
The notice issued by the Commission on Thursday night said that Banerjee has prima facie violated several sections of the Indian Penal Code by making comments against the central forces
Calling her statements against the Central Paramilitary Forces “completely false and provocative,” the Election Commission on Friday issued a notice to Mamata Banerjee.
If she fails to explain herself, action would be taken against her for violating the Model Code of Conduct as well as sections 186, 189, 505 of the IPC, the notice said.
The Chief Minister has been asked to respond to the notice by 11 am on Saturday. The commission said Mamata Banerjee’s inaccurate, inflammatory and sarcastic statements made an attempt to topple and humiliate the dignity of central paramilitary forces during the electoral process.
