On behalf of the Punjab government, the first discussion on its side to formulate a policy to prevent the exploitation of the state’s women in the race for a better life abroad, was held in Jalandhar under the leadership of the Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur.
Punjab to implement policy to prevent abuse of women abroad

Sharing their grief, the cabinet minister assured that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is striving to prevent such frauds in future. During the discussion, some women told that the agents showed them the dream of a happy life on the pretext of jobs and sent them abroad where they had to face many kinds of exploitation.
Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said that the state government will not tolerate such unfortunate exploitation and ill-treatment of the women of Punjab at any cost. Strict legal amendments will be made to stop this. He said that during the discussion, the biggest problem of fraud by the agents came to the fore, which the Punjab government would crack down on unauthorized agents. Emphasizing on women empowerment, he said that efforts will be made to provide maximum benefits to women through ‘Sakhi One Stop Center’ scheme running in Punjab.
