The district administration will impose a fine of Rs 5 lakh each on the builders of 13 projects that exploit groundwater from borewells. In this regard, the District Magistrate has instructed the Ground Water Department on Wednesday. Notice has been issued to the builders to close the borewell immediately. The DM has warned that if borewells are found again in the project, double the fine will be imposed. Along with this, FIR will also be lodged.
On the orders of NGT, the administration had investigated groundwater exploitation in 63 projects of Greater Noida and Greno West. Then in total 41 projects got groundwater exploitation from borewells. Three of these had NOC.
The remaining 38 have been fined crores of rupees. After that, the District Magistrate instructed the Ground Water Department to check ground water exploitation in other projects as well.
After this, the team of the department is checking the ground water exploitation in the under-construction project. So far, ground water has been tapped from borewells in 13 projects.
On Wednesday, when the department gave the report to the District Magistrate in the meeting held at the Collectorate, he has directed to impose fine on the builders of 13 projects.

Soon action will be taken to impose fine on the builders. Notice will be issued to all. Along with this, the investigation of ground water exploitation on the projects under construction will continue. Ground water exploitation will be completely stopped.
