Cabinet Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs Anmol Gagan Mann laid the foundation stone of various projects worth Rs 15.5 crore to promote tourism in Ferozepur district.
The state government is committed to upgrade the monuments under the ‘Anglo-Sikh War Circuit’ project. Steps are being taken to upgrade the historical places as tourist places. Anmol Gagan Mann, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs addressing media persons at the Saragarhi Memorial, Mann said the state government was committed to upgrade the memorials under the “Anglo-Sikh War Circuit” project.
Rs 15-crore tourism boost for Ferozepur district
He said that the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs would renovate and upgrade the Anglo-Sikh War Memorial at Ferozeshah at a cost of Rs 9.98 crore. Similarly, other monuments, including Saragarhi (a museum built at an estimated cost of Rs 1.70 crore), Mudki (98.95 lakh), Sabaraon (82.89 lakh), Mishriwal (23.36 lakh), Firozshah (70.44 lakh) and Aliwal in Ludhiana Are. Will be upgraded,” said the minister.
He also laid the foundation stone of the museum to be built at Saragarhi Memorial.
“Steps are being taken to upgrade the historical places as tourist destinations,” he added. “Thousands of Punjabis sacrificed their lives. It is our duty to take care of these monuments. By upgrading these historical monuments, we want to make the coming generation aware of these places and the sacrifices of the martyrs,” said Mann.
He said that since Basant is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the state, the state government has announced a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh for kite flying competitions.
